IDW: MTMTE & LL

After reading it I feel like I'm a changed person because I wasn't the same after this, genuinely speaking.

Everything about this is GREAT!!!! The stories, THE CHARACTERSSS THE ARTTT UGHHH SO PEAK EVERYTHING ABOUT IT IS PEAK!!! I can't tell you enough how much I really enjoyed this comic because everything about it is soo likable??

The characters are very diverse! I loved every single one of them, they each had their own moments to shine and I appreciate that. James Roberts, the writer, has written the story super perfectly, it's structure and how it all merged together in the end was flawless, just splendid, chefs kiss! Not to mention the world building in this comic is INCREDIBLE, most of my head canons come from this comic alone, its very deep in its ways and it plays very well with the story too. Never have I read one issue that felt like it was a filler episode because every issue this had plays a great part in the story, whether it be big or small, it all played a part for the characters individual stories arcs and it's incredible to think about. Some of these characters, albeit not seen as much in any other Transformers Media or that they exist only in IDW, had their perfect moments to shine and honestly I can't get enough of them. I want to see more of Nautica and Skids together, Swerve, Tailgate and Cyclonus UGH I LOVE THEM, and then there’s WHIRL!!!!

Other character groups too like the DJD and the Scavengers were mentioned here. Man I love them SO MUCH. I LOVE READING THE COMICS WHERE THE SCAVENGERS APPEARED. THEY'RE SOOO FUN!!!!! The Scavengers are like these comedic relief stupid team of Decepticons who are surviving the aftermath of the war. Then we got the DJD. Tarn. HELLOOOO TARN. HI…. HANDSOME….HEH….. And Nickel… HI NICKEL..! Love them. LOVE THEM ALL!! Fun fact, the Scavengers actually inspired me to make my OC AU of Transformers! I just loved how silly they were in the comics and I wanted to make something similar to my OCs too :)).

And, best of all, saving best for last, Megatron. MEGATRON… Rodimus Prime and Ultra Magnus too ig. They drove the story super well especially being the higher ranks of the Lost Light! Without Rodimus this comic wouldn't exist, hell this comic wouldn't be as good if he wasn't there because he is THE picture boy of MTMTE! I love how silly he is with his stupid "Rod pod" and "Team Rodimus" he's just bringing so much joy in me when I read it. And Ultra Magnus has to be his baby sitter while also managing a whole crew. Aside that, we get to learn more about Magnus throughout the comic too. Like I said, every character here had their own moments to shine which is great!

I loved Megatron's redemption arc in here ITS INCREDIBLE seeing him grow as a new person and seeing people around him come to accept him. Clearly Rodimus and Ultra Magnus changed the most when Megatron became good. Its insane really, I loved this sooo so much especially when later in LL when Megatron was stuck in another universe and everything else turned into chaos (kinda an overstatement) JUST BECAUSE HE WASN'T PRESENT. LIKE. MEGATRON GLAZE HERE NOW??? GIVE ME MORE!!!!!

The Megatron glaze in here was above and beyond because in the end so much bs happened.. Gonna absolutely spoil everything in LL, basically Megatron was stuck in another universe where he was never born and Cybertron was this horrible Functionist Society he once fought against. As he was stuck there he started a revolution against their tyrannical government, then he saved a billion more lives, and he also learned how to be a medic??? Which he mentioned he wanted to be?? Btw that spanned for 600 YEARS. HOLY MOLY. To think the original Great War was around 4 million years, and Megatron could do all of this in under 600?? YEAH. THIS IS THE BEST.

Overall, this was a SUPER FUN read!! James Roberts might be Shakespeare reincarnated for writing such peak. I've reached peak Transformers and can't get any higher. I'm no comic reader but while reading this it felt like I was watching a cartoon play out because everyone was silly yet the story was just amazing with how the characters played a part in it. The ending was super bittersweet… Ngl I almost cried reading it, like damn I can't believe the best Transformers Media I've ever seen is ending right then and there… But it was amazing nonetheless, I couldn't think of another ending better than what they had. If my memories were wiped, I want to revisit this comic again. I wish I get to see more of them!

Infiltration

It took me a while to read Infiltration because I kept procrastinating it. To be frank I HATE when humans are involved in Transformers but I really wanted to read All Hail Megatron for fun (because really as I'm writing this I have nothing to do and I don't wanna do anything lmao). Before reading it I was really curious about character Verity though because throughout my read in MTMTE, LL, and other comics, she's mentioned when talking about Ultra Magnus and stuff like that. The story was decent, Autobot meets humans, Megatron killing Starscream at the end, the usual and nothing out of the ordinary. Yet it's still a solid story all-in-all especially because it's the first of this trilogy.

Escalation

LOVE the stakes this story had!! Bravo, the last few issues this had was stressful but good. Love how Ratchet and Ironhide are almost getting used to the humans. I like this one because there was a moment where MEGATRON WON but because of Optimus' stupid plot armor he somehow got revived and defeated Megatron. What the hell. Anyway it was super funny seeing Megatron have like this beam of power shoot out of his mouth HAHAH also that ONE SCENE with him and Optimus lowk looking kindaaa intimate,,, srsly everytime I see them fighting it feels like I'm interrupting something lol.

the IDW comics

Arguably the best continuity of Transformers EVER.

I kid you not I almost always mention the IDW comics whenever I talk about the world building of Transformers because that’s just how deep and extensive it is. It solves most of the problems and questions the world building of Transformers has (ehem, Bayverse I'm looking at u). I LOVE how deep it is, its like jumping in a rabbit hole, only for the rabbit hole to reach the core of the Earth. The world building technically isn't endless but its a LOT to cover.

Aside the world building, there are TONS of comics. Holy moly it totals over 400+. That’s a damn lot of comics and I'll be ready to read all of em soon!

OK good parts aside, truth be told, most of the comics here are sometimes stand alone. I read from the very first comics, Megatron Origins, LOVED it, and then moving to the next comic which did NOT necessarily follow Megatron Origins chronologically, it was a huge jump from me. And the story sometimes feel inconsistent too because there are many writers and artists working on the same continuity with almost no coordination ?? Almost every new comic series are a huge jump from the rest. It also doesn't help with the fact that every new comic series, there are new artists, and therefore new designs. One artist draws simply and the other incredibly detailed. IM NOT hating on the art or the writing btw, its the inconsistencies that annoy me. Reading it normally, for the most part, isn't in chronological order and it kinda gave me a headache upon reading the first few comics. Thank goodness though I found a chronological order version made by other fans, big kudos to them for dealing with hundreds of comics, half of which sometimes don't make sense to the story (like I said, some of them are stand alone). But I feel like this is more of a me problem because I personally don't rlly like the random jump of styles. Not the worst thing in the world tho, just thought I might rant abt it here.

However despite that, it still manages to have a story in a bigger picture. Its clear from the start it all inevitably started with Megatron Origins. Some parts of the story do actually stick and works for everything else which I do appreciate! This adds to the fact that this continuity has a zillion world building information that actually helps with the story.

Overall, it's still great to read the comics from time to time. I'm gonna read more of them soon! I might start with All Hail Megatron next, of course LOL

My head canons

Starting this new blog page strong with some head canons. This is pretty extensive so buckle up! Mostly revolving around TF: IDW and TF: Cyberverse :)
Some of these are facts, but I might aswell add them here cus uh yeah they're canon in my head lol

this is like my rule book for transformers, I wrote this overtime so I have a lot to cover.

yeah there might be some instances where some of my head canons are commonly acknowledged, but whatever bro let me wanna yap about this

Gender in Transformers

Transformers are pansexual and asexual at the same time. Reason being Cybertronians have no genitals to reproduce therefore they have no genders.

The term “gender" to them has no clear meaning and has only been introduced to them after encountering organic alien species that reproduce sexually.

Gender almost really doesn't matter.

Nautica (IDW)

The way they call the terms “males" and “females" are “Cybertronian" for male and “Camian" for female. However they're all still Cybertronian by nature. Generally, they're all called Transformers nonetheless.

(Fact) Female Cybertronians come from the planet Caminus. They originated from past Cybertronians colonizing the planet, which overtime formed itself its own culture. Often called Camians rather Cybertronians, but nonetheless they all share the same origin and qualities of a Transformer. (Source: IDW comics)

Transformers look the opposite gender from their real one and it's normal. Females can look masculine and males can look feminine. Examples are: IDW Overlord has pronounced lips yet he's a male, and the Seekers in Cyberverse all have the same body type (masculine) but the females are only defined by their lips.

Changing genders, names, appearance, and sometimes alt modes, is normal. Change is normal for the Transformers because its part of their culture and especially because of Transforming. Prime example: Anode from IDW.

The term “Transgender” is rarely used and almost nonexistent.

Their “genders” are often defined by their appearance (females mostly have pronounced lips and have slimmer bodies), pronouns, voice, and most importantly, culture.

(Fact) The Cybertronains are a male dominant species, while the Camians are female dominant. (Source: IDW, Cyberverse)

Camians and Cybertronians live in harmony.

Romance in Transformers

(Fact) Conjux Endura is their form of marriage. Amica Endura is their form of long term bestest friends. Both are formal and exist on both Cybertronians and Camians. (Source: IDW comics)

Falling in love is completely normal. Because if the war is fueled by pure hate, then they can feel other emotions too such as love.

Gender has nothing to do with love. Reminder that in my head canon, all Transformers are pansexual and asexual at the same time.

The Great War

(Fact) The Great War lived on for over 4 million years.

(Fact) Megatron started as a miner turned gladiator turned warlord. (source: IDW, and most continuities)

Transformer aging

Transformers age by maturity, experience, and wisdom, but also sometimes defined by their personality.
Best example is Bumblebee. He is often said to be the youngest or younger than most bots yet he's old friends with Optimus Prime (an old bot), and has already lived before the war (approx. 4 million years). This is because, as others have stated, he needs more experience (TF: G1, TF: Prime). In this case, experience that comes with learning your mistakes, and with that, he gets more matured.
Hence how Optimus matured faster as being Prime alongside his learned wisdom.
Another example is Rodimus Prime, he is almost the same as Bumblebee with the addition that his personality is child-like.
I head canon both Bumblebee and Rodimus as immature adults that need more experience, but that moreso depends on the continuity.

(Fact) Transformers do not die from aging.

Although these head canons could suggest that all Transformers are adults upon being born (example: Getaway from IDW), in my head canon, a new born Transformer is still considered young because they still have much to learn.
This head canon is applied to my OC Pentakill, she was made during the war and deemed as a young bot.

Transformer body types

Transformers with weird body types (like a wheel for legs) is uncommon but normal.

Optimus Prime and Megatron are around 35ft tall (10.7m) and are considered large sized bots, ranging 27ft-38ft+. Medium sizes are around 18-28ft. Small sizes are 8ft-17ft.

Fun fact, I thought of this to be 100% true when I joined a Transformers Roblox military roleplay game: Transformers Trilogy. The Maccadam's bar there was a neutral hang out place between factions and fighting was strictly not allowed. Had many good conversations with Autobots there, shout out to everyone I interacted with! lol

Megatron is the main character in the IDW comics.
Because bro without him the whole story wouldn't be there to begin with, PLUS the world would be total chaos like the alternative universe in Lost Light.

The Transformers language that we normally see in media are them speaking in Cybertronian but only translated to English for us to watch. (I heard this is a fact but I'm not too sure)

In addition to that, the regular Cybertronian time unit (examples: vorns, astro-seconds), are translated to English for us to understand (like years, months, seconds). This is because most of the time units used doesn't make sense and sometimes hard to calculate.

The Dead Universe is a connection between all alternative universes of Transformers. This includes different continuities as well. (Idea based on: Cyberverse)
